RIP: 21/08/2020 - Mikolow
Fr. Józef Fugiel was born on 20 November 1931 in Wolowice near Kraków. After three years of candidature at the Salvatorian college in Kraków-Zakrzówek, he went to Bagno for the novitiate which he finished professing his first vows on 8 September 1950. After his profession, he continued his education on high school level at the Salvatorian Minor Seminary in Mikolów. Because of the communistic regime that was imposed in the country, Józef had to start his philosophical and theological studies at the Faculty of the Dominicans in Kraków. After completing his studies, he was ordained a priest on 17 June 1958 in Kraków. During his apostolic life, Fr. Józef dedicated himself to the parish and catechetic work, as well as preaching retreats in several places in Poland. Due to his decreasing health condition, he was freed from all his pastoral duties since 2015. In June 2018 he was moved to the Nursing Home Salvator Park in Mikolow, where he ended his earthly pilgrimage, after a severe disease on 21 August 2020.
