Our history as Salvatorians is one of lights and shadows that when considered in the light of faith as well as reason helps us grow in our understanding of what God is doing with us.
The International Historical Commission helps us in gathering and publishing the materials for this purpose as well as for handing on our history to future generations. The members of the Commission gathered in Hamont, Belgium for a lively and productive meeting under the chairmanship of Fr Michael Overmann, General Archivist. The members advanced the work on DSS XXIV: Reminiscences on Fr. Jordan, the Motherhouse Study by Fr. Weglarz, and two editions of the Salvatorians Worth Knowing series (one on Fr. Inigo König and the other on Fr. Pancratius Pfeiffer), all to be published by the end of this year or early next year. In addition they reviewed work being done on Fr. Bonaventura Lüthen, norms for publication and the General Archives website, among other items. The IHC also plans to post eventually some transcriptions of original materials handwritten in German on the www.sds.org website under the Resources section for access by scholars and others who are interested. The members of the IHC include Frs. Adam Teneta, Piet Cuijpers, Vinoy Thottakkara, and Mr. Johan Moris. The Generalate liaison is Fr. Raúl Gómez, General Secretary.
