We are happy to announce that the Holy Father Francis appointed
Fr. Jerzy (George) Kołodziej SDS
as Bishop of Bunbury (Australia)
His Excellency George Kołodziej was born on 17 May 1968 Dobra, Poland. He professed vows on 8 September 1988, and was ordained a priest on 28 May 1994. He studied Philosophy and Theology at the Salvatorian Major Seminary of Bagno.
Apart from his formation required to become a priest, he earned Masters degree in theology and pastoral care/pscychology as well as a post-graduate diploma in addiction studies.
Bishop-elect Kołodziej has ministered in the Australian region of the Polish Province since December 1996. Currenlty he has been Regional Superior of the Salvatorians in Australia since October 2018 and chaplain for Catholic Education Western Australia since 2019. He is also the Director of the Salvatorian Spirituality Centre in Perth. Additionally, he has served as a member of the Council of Catholic Religious Australia, the Council of Priests of the Archdiocese of Perth and as a consultant for Catholic Youth Ministry and Clergy Wellbeing.
We sincerely congratulate his excellency, his family, the confreres of the Polish Province. We wish him all the best and God's blessing for this important service for the Church.
