Br. Joseph Kreutzer

RIP: 27/04/2021 - Alexian Village

Br. Joseph Kreutzer was born at Huntly, Illinois on 14 June 1927. After the completion of his studies and some years of service in the Navy, he joined the Salvatorian Monastery in Wisconsin. He spent his novitiate year in Menominee, Michigan, where he made his first profession on 8 September 1954. After the profession, he ministered one year in St. Nazianz, and then went to Mother of the Saviour Seminary in Blackwood, New Jersey, where he spent five years in charge of the students’ dining room and ministering in many other tasks for the community. In 1960 Br. Joseph opted to serve in the Salvatorian mission in Tanganyika (now Tanzania). For twenty-four years he ministered in several places in the mission. Throughout those years, he helped in numerous capacities, including serving as the secretary of the Salvatorian bishop of the diocese. Br. Joseph returned to the USA in 1984 due to health issues. And once his health was restored, he served in many communities in various capacities until 2013. At the age of 86, he moved to the retirement community at Alexian Village. Br. Joseph died peacefully on 27 April 2021. He was 93 years old and had been professed for 67 years in the Society.
