From Sunday, 28 January, 6.00 pm to Tuesday, 30 January 2024, 4.30 pm, the Provincial Chapter of the Salvatorians took place in the convent of the Sisters of Mercy in Laab im Walde in preparation for the General Chapter 2024. A short report by Fr Josef Wonisch SDS.
15 confreres were able to participate and actively engaged in a desired process of discernment and synodality. Fr Josef Wonisch gave an introduction and introduction to the chapter process on the three core topics, based on texts from the pastoral letters of Fr General Milton Zonta in recent years.
First were elected a delegate and sub-delegates for the General Chapter in Krakow. Then a large part of the time was dedicated for working on the content of the three core themes: Identity - communion - mission.
The preparatory group, together with chapter facilitator Dr Christian Wlaschütz, decided to work inductively on the three themes of identity - communion - mission in order to provide space for images, keywords and questions that moved each confrere in connection with the themes.
This was methodically in line with the proposed three steps: discover-dream-suggest. Each topic was first worked on individually, then introduced and collected in three small groups.
In the plenary session, the results of the small groups were presented and explained. The key points were filtered out of these in order to convey as concise a message as possible to the general chapter.
In addition to important information from the provincial and a PowerPoint presentation on public relations work, an essential part of the provincial chapter was also the budgets and finances of the colleges, the province and the SDS mission.
These were intensive working days, an encouraging atmosphere, where prayer and sitting together also had their important place and strengthened our community.
