RIP: 29/11/2023 - Międzyzdroje
Fr. Stanisław Diaków was born on 8 December 1934 in Wolicak. Because of the Sec¬ond War troubles, his family was detained in Lviv, where they remained until the end of the war. In 1945, Fr. Stanisław and his mother were deported from their families in the western land of the new socialist Poland. They settled in the village of Bagno. He continued his education, which was interrupted during the occupation, in a primary school in Osolin. The vicinity of the Salvatorian community there, became the inspira¬tion for discovering his vocation in the religious family of Blessed Francis of Mary of the Cross Jordan. He made his Secondary School studies in Mikołow. On 15 August 1952 he was admitted to the Salvatorian novitiate in Bagno where he got the religious name Apolinary. He made his first temporary profession on 15 August 1953. From 1953 until 1959 he studied Philosophy and Theology in his hometown. He was ordained priest on 21 December 1959. After having fin¬ished in Wroclaw the so called Tyrocinium, an introduction in practical pastoral affairs, Fr. Stanisław was transferred to different places, where he always worked hard in the field of pastoral work in parishes and schools. He will remain in memory of many people whom he faithfully served as an incredibly humble and quiet man. Despite his advanced age, for more than six decades, he was ready every day for pastoral ministry to the needy. Fr. Stanisław died suddenly on the night of 29 November 2023 in Międzyzdroje. He ended his earthly pilgrimage at the age of 89, having been a Salvatorian for 70 years.
