RIP: 30/09/2023 - Mikołów
Fr. Paweł Stanoszek was born on 1 January 1933 in Gronowice, Oleski County. The early years of his life were strongly marked by the impact of the Second World War. He even had to leave his homeland and emigrate to Bavaria in Germany for a time. In January 1946, he returned to his homeland and soon after was sent to Mikołów, where he did his secondary studies at the Salvatorian College. On 7 September 1949 he was admitted as a novice and received the name Innocenty. Exactly one year later, on 8 September 1950, he professed his first temporary vows in the Society. He then returned to Mikolów, where he continued his secondary education, which he completed in 1952. From 1952 to 1958 he received his philosophical and theological formation at the Dominican Institute in Kraków. On 17 June 1958, he was ordained a priest in Kraków. A few days later he began his studies of classical philology at the University of Wrocław and undertook pastoral ministries entrusted to him. During this period, he began teaching ancient languages to novices and scholastics in Bagno. In the community and at the level of the province, Fr. Paweł fulfilled various services: bursar and vicar provincial, superior of the community, spiritual director and of course he was a teacher of classical languages and German for many generations of young Salvatorians in his time. From 1974 until 1981 Fr. Paweł served in various Salvatorian apostolates in Germany. He then returned to Poland and was sent to the formation house in Bagno. Seeking continuous intellectual development, he made good use of his time and presented his doctoral thesis in the field of Church history in 2004. Fr. Paweł will remain in the memory of his confreres, not only as a demanding teacher, but as a kind and smiling confrere who did not pass indifferently by anyone and was always ready to talk and support, willing to share his talents. Needing daily expert medical care, he spent his last days in Mikołów. There he died on 30 September 2023. He was 90 years old and had been a Salvatorian for 73 years.
